Well, White Sands National Monument may be closed, but I think we experienced some of its gypsum blowing onto our car on Thursday, when an unbelievable wind storm blew through. Gusts of up to 60 mph were reported, and they were incredible to experience, sometimes a bit scary to be honest! It was most certainly dust on the cars, when a bit of a sprinkle occurred, driven sideways by the rain, and dotting the cars white. Lovely mess!
Good day for an indoor activity, so we went to the Hubbard Museum of Western Art, which was on the agenda anyway! While it could no way compare to the amazing Cowboy and Western Museum in Oklahoma City, it was still very nice, and had a nice collection of wagons, including a Chuck Wagon, and a good description of its history. Very relative, since the Chuck Wagon Cook Off is what brings us to this area!
The hearse below is like one we saw in Talahassee, which supposedly carried Lincoln.
We tried a little shopping down town after, but the weather was a definite deterrent, so we headed back to the comfort of our coach for the rest of the afternoon, then out to dinner at the Cattle Baron restaurant with our Portland friends. The cowtown steaks were reportedly very good, as were my ribs, and we had a nice evening chatting about our day and the crazy winds!

Love the Annie Oakley! Sounds like another super trip you guys are having!
